OSRS Ironman Hunter Guide (1–99)
Hunter gives you access to gear, secondaries, training supplies, and some of the best GP/hr options — even as an Ironman.
Levels 1–9: Varrock Museum Quiz (Recommended)
- Talk to Orlando Smith in Varrock Museum basement.
- Complete the Natural History Quiz for
1,000 XP
- Skips catching bare-handed birds.
Levels 9–29: Bird Snares → Tropical Birds
- Use
bird snares (buy from Hunter stores)
- Locations:
- Crimson Swifts at Feldip Hunter Area
- Tropical wagtails at 19+
Levels 29–43: Swamp Lizards
- Use
net traps near Canifis (Swamp area)
- Bank or drop lizards (can be used as Slayer secondaries later)
- XP here is much faster than bird snares
Levels 43–63+: Falconry (or Orange Salamanders)
- Rent a falcon in Piscatoris Falconry
- Catch
Spotted & Dark Kebbits
- Good for XP and fletching secondaries (feathers)
- Alternative: Orange Salamanders at Nardah (more clicky)
Levels 63–80+: Red Chinchompas
- Caught in Feldip Hunter Area (Red chinchompas)
- Great Ranged XP source — or stack them for future bossing
- Use 3–5 traps depending on Hunter level
Alternative: Birdhouse Runs (For Passive XP + Nests)
- After Bone Voyage, unlock Fossil Island
- Set 4x birdhouses every ~50 minutes
- XP scales with tier:
Regular → Willow → Yew → Magic
- Use for
Bird nests, seeds, and passive XP
Levels 80–99: Black Chinchompas or Herbiboar
- Black Chins: Wildy hunter zone — high risk, high reward
- Herbiboar: Fossil Island — decent XP + passive herbs for Herblore
- Can alternate between the two if avoiding PvP risk
Ironman Hunter Benefits

- Chinchompas: Use for 70–99 Ranged training
