OSRS Ironman Mining Guide (1–99)
No GE. No boosts. Just raw ore, veins, and grind.
Levels 1–15: Copper & Tin
- Mine Copper and Tin rocks to make Bronze bars.
- Locations:
- Smelt into bars to train Smithing too!
Levels 15–35: Iron Ore
- Iron ore is fast and has good XP/hr even with no banking.
- Best spot: South of Varrock (3 rocks close together).
- Power-mine (drop ore) for best XP, or bank if you want the ore.
Levels 35–70: Blast Mine (optional) or More Iron
- Blast Mine (after 65% Lovakengj favor) is great XP and ores.
- Otherwise: continue with Iron ore, optionally bank for Smithing stockpile.
- You can mine Volcanic Mine at 50+ but requires a group & questing.
Levels 70–85: Motherlode Mine
- Unlocked with 100% favor in Lovakengj or after entering once via ladder in Falador area.
- AFKable and gives ores like coal, gold, mithril, and adamantite.
- Use this time to collect nuggets to buy the Prospector outfit (XP boost!)
Levels 85–99: Amethyst or MLM/Blast Mining
- Mine Amethyst in the Mining Guild (slow XP, but AFK and valuable).
- Or continue with Motherlode Mine or **Blast Mine** (best XP/hr).
- Amethyst also helps with Fletching and Ranged gear.
Useful Unlocks & Tips
- Buy a Rune pickaxe from shops or drops once you hit 41 Mining + 40 Attack.
- Dragon Pickaxe: Dropped from Chaos Elemental / Wilderness bosses (late game).
- Mining Guild (60 Mining): Boosts mining success rate. Great Iron/Amethyst mining location.
- Get the Prospector Outfit from Motherlode Mine ASAP (+2.5% XP boost).
- Train Agility for better run energy when mining and running to banks.
