OSRS Ironman Melee Training Guide (1–99)
Bank everything. Upgrade naturally. Let the monsters fuel your grind.
📦 Golden Rule: BANK EVERYTHING
- Always loot: bones, herbs, seeds, runes, coins, armor, arrows, and food
- Use drops to fuel Herblore, Prayer, Fletching, etc.
- Even bronze arrows and iron armor are useful early on
- If inventory fills up: teleport, bank, return — or stack noted drops
🗡️ Training Setup & XP Styles
Accurate: Trains Attack
Aggressive: Trains Strength
Defensive: Trains Defence
Controlled (only with scimitar/whip): Trains all 3 evenly
⚔️ Levels 1–20: Chickens, Cows, Goblins
- Locations: Lumbridge, Draynor, Edgeville
- Train Attack first (up to 20) → switch to Strength or Controlled style
- Bank: Feathers, raw meat, bones, arrow drops
💪 Levels 20–40: Al Kharid Warriors, Rock Crabs, Ogress Warriors
- Al Kharid Warriors: Great for early XP + drops
- Rock Crabs: Very AFKable, low food required
- Ogress Warriors: High HP, drop tons of runes/herbs — see Magic guide
🩸 Levels 40–70: Slayer Tasks / Giant Frogs / Hill Giants
- Start Slayer now if not already — trains all melee stats + loot
- Hill Giants: Big bones, limpwurt roots, rare drops
- Giant Frogs: Safe spot potential, decent drop table
🪓 Gear Progression (Ironman-Friendly)
- Bronze → Iron → Steel: Monster drops, stores
- Rune: From Ogres, Slayer mobs, Barrows chests
- Dragon scimitar:
Monkey Madness I required
- Abyssal whip: 85 Slayer or trade-ins (later game)
⚔️ Levels 70–99: Controlled Slayer / Crabs / NMZ
- Slayer: Best long-term XP with real gains
- Ammonite Crabs: Fossil Island — AFKable, tanky
- Nightmare Zone: If you unlock it, amazing XP/hr
- Chivalry/Piety: Use if you've trained Prayer + quests
